SHIRLEY’s and Kanoa are currently the top teams in the Tinekcha-Awaal (Premier) Division of the Dove Women’s League after beating their respective opponents Wednesday at the NMI Soccer Training Center in Koblerville.
Shirley’s bagged their second win by powering past TakeCare, 6-2.
Shirley’s quickly established dominance as they wove past TakeCare’s defense, allowing Jannah Casarino to find the back of the net after four minutes of play.
Although TakeCare struck back six minutes later with a highlight finish by Tamia Kileleman-Hix, Shirley’s gradually regained control of the possession, resulting in three consecutive goals led by Casarino, who completed the hat-trick with two goals scored at the 21st and 28th minute marks while Rizza Relucio squeezed one in between at the 24th to stretch their lead, 4-1.
The action slowed down during the second half as both teams focused on defense. But Shirley’s eventually broke through, creating openings for Relucio and Casarino to strike with a goal each and put the game out of reach.
Facing an inevitable defeat, TakeCare still kept their hopes up with Summer Manahane draining a solo shot at the 76th minute mark to somewhat ease the pain, 2-6.
