Whether it was the Men’s Doubles, Women’s Double or Mixed Doubles, Shirley’s came in well prepared.

Shirley’s had a full roster with 15 players: Andreau Galvez, Lance Gallardo, Walker Wang, Jerry Tan, Leonard Manuel, Windy Fernandez, Loida Ito, Rowena Shouck, Irish Pagarao, Roxe Lazaro, Jadel Ignacio, Galdys Dacumos, Joseph King, Perry Lei and Jerome Malasarte.

On the first day of the tournament, Friday, the United Badminton Club or UBC, drew first blood claiming the Mixed Doubles match in just two sets to collect three points.

However, Shirley’s replied by taking three matches. Shirley’s shined in the two Men’s Doubles matches along with the Mixed Doubles to earn nine points while UBC notched two three-point victories, including from the third Men’s Doubles.

The following day, Shirley’s was able to solidify its lead with a near-dominant performance against the Community Badminton Club or CBC. Shirley’s earned 12 points by winning two Mixed Doubles, one Men’s Double and one Women’s Double matches while CBC managed to gain three points, two from a Men’s Doubles match.

The third match was a battle between the two leaders, Shirley’s and Golden Racquet.

Although Golden Racquet’s players had been playing well, they seemed to have suddenly lost their touch against Shirley’s which won the Mixed, Women’s and Men’s matches in two sets to earn nine points.

Shirley’s players did not stop there as they collected four more points in winning  their next Men’s and Women’s Doubles match assignments while Golden Racquet won a  single Mixed Doubles match for three points to give the team a total of five points.

In their fourth and final faceoff, which was against Taga, Shirley’s players maintained their efficiency.

Taga gave a good fight but Shirley’s proved to be the better team with three consecutive sweeps in the Men’s, Women’s and Mixed Doubles to earn nine points.

Garnering a total of 50 points, Shirley’s won the championship. Golden Racquet settled for second place with 37 points followed by Taga, which finished third with 35 points, UBC in fourth place with 29 points, and CBC in fifth place with 28 points.
