At the Fiesta Resort & Spa beach on Saturday,  SIS 1 started strong  by beating Marianas High School 2.

SIS 1’s Serin Chung and MauryZon Tybaco led the offensive and made full use of the 3-touch strategy punctuated with a spike to set the tone for their team.

The MHS 2  Dolphins matched SIS 1’s performance with a few returns of their own powered by Raylynn Singa, Kepina Tababa and Sydney Hinds.

However, as the game progressed, the SIS 1 Geckos started to gain confidence with mixed attacks  and unexpected early returns, forcing MHS 2 to commit errors.

As soon as the Geckos built a safe lead, it did not take long before they finished off MHS 2, 21-15.

Against MHS 1, however, SIS 1 had a hard time finding their groove.

The teamwork of Fatima Monerubrio and Aiko and Nichko Rasiang kept MHS 1 in control from start to finish.

SIS 1’s Julianne Hall and Cevina Hwang tried to keep their team alive, but MHS 1’s relentless pressure was too much to handle as the Dolphins handed the Geckos their first loss,  14-21.

SIS 1 then suffered their second loss, this time against Grace Christian Academy 2, 13-21.

But playing against a sister team, SIS 2, SIS 1 was relentless, notching victory, 21-14.

This fueled SIS 1’s momentum as the Geckos nearly silenced MHS 4, 21-8.

Also in the top 4 of the team standings are GCA 1 with a 6-3 record and GCA 2 with a 6-4 record.

MHS 1 is numero uno with an unblemished 9-0 record.
