SIXTUS Aquino bagged the Amigos Golf Club’s April Ace of the Month title after shooting a two-day net total of 140 on Sunday, April 30, at the Laolao Bay Golf & Resort west course.
Aquino’s performance during the qualifier round held on Sunday, April 23, was the key to his victory as he cleared the course with a gross score of 92. With a handicap of 27, his net score was 65.
During the ace round on Sunday, April 30, he struggled to find his swing as he closed the 18 holes with a gross of 102, but his handicap of 27 gave him a net score of 75 and a net total of 140.
In second place was Nick Guerrero. On day one, he shot a gross of 89 which was cut down by his 18 handicap to a net score of 71. He maintained his down swing on day two with a gross of 88 which gave him a net score of 70 and a net total of 141.
In the optional play, Joe Sablan Jr led the list of par 3 winners on hole #3; Dung Tenorio reigned on hole #7; Ed Manglona ruled hole #13; and Joe Torres notched hole #17. Each won $140.
Sherlyn Jones also shared the spotlight as the big winner in the par 4 side skins. She took home $380 for the lone birdie on hole #6.
The May Ace of the Month qualifier will be held on May 7, Sunday, at 8:30 a.m. on the Laolao Bay Golf & Resort east course while the ace round will be held on May 21, Sunday, at 8:30 a.m. on the west course.
