BAMBOO Soudelor Construction claimed the Thursday Division championship of the SBA Budweiser Open 8-Ball League by defeating the 9 Eleven Rebels 2, 9-7, Thursday at the New Bamboo Bar of Saipan Vegas.
Both teams split the opening Partners 8-Ball game, but when it came to the individual matchups, the Rebels 2 gained the advantage with Mervin Sahagun, Eric Baugh and Joe Palacios bagging three of the four rounds in the Singles 8-Ball game. Their team also notched a two-win sweep in the second Partners 8-Ball game which game them the lead, 6-2.
But Soudelor Construction fought back with Chester Hamoy, Rolly Villanueva and Frankie Blas scoring a 3-1 run which was followed by a four-win sweep to clinch match victory and the championship, 9-7.
In the battle for third place, the VFW IT&E Homeboyz outplayed Bamboo Kabalen, 9-6.
The second Singles 8-Ball was the deciding game with Homeboyz Roman Rodriguez, Jeff Garcia ad Rogel Caruana scoring a crucial 3-1 run en route to victory.
