THE Saipan Southern High School and Marianas High School junior varsity teams are off to a strong start in the boys high school division of the 2022-2023 IT&E Interscholastic Basketball League as they came out victorious against their respective opponents at the MHS gym.
SSHS JV, which trounced MHS JV 2, 28-11, established control right from the start and were unmatched offensively with Kachuo Norech and Roger Hernandez at the frontline combining for 10 points.
MHS JV 2’s Dereck Rangamar managed to score a bucket, but his team struggled greatly and ended the first half far behind, 3-18.
In the second half, MHS JV 2 finally gained more confidence as each player on the court contributed with high-percentage shots.
However, they failed to stop SSHS JV defensively.
SSHS JV’s Carl Enriquez and Kobe Imperial delivered three points each while team mate Hernandez converted four points to put the icing on the cake, 28-11.
Against Mount Carmel School JV, MHS JV led in the first half 25-3 before cruising to an easy victory, 39-12.
