DANDAN won the women’s division championship of the 2022 Marianas Village Pride Basketball League by trouncing Garapan, 46-33, on Sunday at the TSL Sports Complex.
Dandan’s skill set was the team’s biggest asset as they were able to attack from every angle. Connie Camacho quickly found her stroke as she ignited the run by scoring seven points, including one triple, to seize the lead.
Garapan fought back with AJ Garon draining two consecutive makes from beyond the arc, but they continued to struggle as a team.
Dandan, for their part, constantly attacked the rim, drawing a handful of fouls with Antonette Labausa and Cassandra Camacho capitalizing from the charity line while Connie Camacho added her second triple to stretch the deficit, 24-17, by the end of the opening half.
Garapan continued to find answers on their end during the second half as Quina Flores and Marielle Lopez stepped up with back-to-back buckets, but their offense was riddled with misses which handed Dandan the opportunity to turn trash into gold on the other end.
Dandan’s smooth transition plays kept their options open as Labausa remained their biggest threat inside the paint, delivering seven points. Team mates Tazha Deleon Guerrero and Kina Rangamar joined the scoring spree while Connie Camacho punished defenders with more long-range shots and added two more triples en route to victory, 46-33.
Dandan would like to recognize their sponsor Saipan Vegas for supporting all five of their Ol’Aces-led teams during the league.
In the battle for third place, Kagman triumphed over San Vicente, 59-42.
Kaia Travilla led Kagman to victory with 24 points while team mates Mikki Kautz scored 16 and Yasmeen Younis delivered 11.
