SUFA, Masters notch softball victories

SUNDAY was a good day for SUFA and the Masters as both teams crushed their respective opponents in the Belau Amateur Softball at the Dandan baseball field.

SUFA started slow but as soon as its players found their swing, they fired a barrage of runs to demolish Hagu Lamun, 22-2, in just five innings.

Hagu Lamun’s Glen and Openg opened the game by earning an RBI each to give their team a  2-0 lead.

But Hagu Lamun’s reign was short-lived as SUFA answered with three runs of its own courtesy of Eric’s hit that brought in Audei and Jude for an RBI double. Eric then rounded the bases himself due to an error made by Hagu Lamun

Suddenly, SUFA was in the lead, 3-2.

Both teams continued to bump heads in the scoreless second and third innings, but in the bottom of the fourth, SUFA began unleashing one hit after the other.

It started with five consecutive runs thanks to Pat’s RBI double while team-mates Eric, Frank and Ray contributed an RBI each to widen their team’s lead before Hagu Lamun could stop the bleeding.

But soon, SUFA was filling up the bases once again as Calvani connected the hit over the fences for a grandslam to make it 12-2 in his team’s favor.

Ten more runs were delivered by SUFA’s players in the next inning while Hagu Lamun remained silent.

Early in the fifth, SUFA sealed  the deal, 22-2.

Masters vs Asahi

The Masters also had a dominant performance against Asahi.

Scoring three runs in the bottom of the first, the Masters added nine more with JJ leading the assault with an RBI double while teammates Hector, Mike, Jess brought in singles to give their team a 12-2 advantage.

Asahi tried to stay alive but could only score two runs in the third and fourth innings while the Masters clinched two more runs as the mercy rule ended the game in the fifth inning, 14-4.
