COLIN Sinclair won another gold medal for the NMI after a dominant performance in the men’s singles on Friday at American Memorial Park.
The NMI powerhouse crushed New Caledonia’s Louam Boivin, 6-0, 6-2, before dispatching Tahiti’s Heimanarii Laisan, 6-0, 6-2.
His next opponent, Sebastian Tikaram of Fiji gave Sinclair a good fight, but the NMI player was just too strong as he bagged his third match victory, 6-2, 6-1.
The heat and the back-to-back matches did not seem to bother Sinclair as he eliminated Tahiti’s Gillian Osmont, 6-1, 6-2, to reach the finals.
Against Papua New Guinea’s Matthew Stubbings, Sinclair was a class by himself. His quick and powerful serves remained his key weapons as he racked up the points en route to a 6-0, 6-1 victory and the gold medal.
With teammate Robert Schorr, Sinclair won the men’s doubles gold medal by besting Vanuatu’s Aymeric Mara and Clement Mainguy, 6-2, 7-5.
In the women’s doubles, the NMI’s Asia Raulerson and Isabel Heras reached the bronze-medal match but fell short against Tonga’s Ana Taminika and Ela Vakaukamea, 3-6, 0-6.
