Tenorio, Allen top Dash & Splash 5K

SHIGEKI Tenorio and Terra Allen topped their respective divisions in one of Run Saipan’s unique events, Dash & Splash 5K 2023, which ended with a jump into East Bay.

Fifteen runners participated in this year’s event whose course allowed them to enjoy the scenic view of LaoLao Bay.

According to Run Saipan, Dash & Splash is a Dr. Ron Snyder original and is an event dedicated only to the most hardcore of runners. The headmaster of Saipan International School, Snyder is also the secretary and treasurer of Run Saipan.

On Saturday, Shigeki Tenorio led the course from the start and claimed first place in the men’s division with a time of 25:24.

“I’m very honored to be first place,” he said. “It was fun! I love nature, so running while you are surrounded by greenery and the ocean view was nice. The bumpy road made it hard to run but it was worth it. Then the last splash was so refreshing. It was like natural icing after a hard exercise. I didn’t want to get out from the water for a while,” he added with a laugh.

The rest of the top three in the men’s division were Chong Name Lee and Simon Necesito who clocked  27:08 and 29:32, respectively.

In the women’s division, Terra Allen led the competition and was the first to splash into the finish line with a time of 27:20. Chiharu Sato was second at 33:08 while Elizabeth Church came in third at 38:25.
