Tight games played in SEDA Thursday League

NAIL-BITING games highlighted  the recent Thursday Division games of the Saipan Billiards Association Budweiser Open 8-Ball League.

Bamboo Kabalen remains at the top of the food chain after slipping past the 9 Eleven Crazy Ballers, 7-6.

The Crazy Ballers established control early as Joseph Achas, Victor Formales and KJ Mansilungan came out victorious in the opening Singles 8-Ball match for a 3-1 lead.

But Kabalen bounced back as a team with Ed “Kaka” Mariano and Jerry Soriano, along with Albert Pangilinan and Jesse Guerra, sweeping the f Partners 8-Ball match with two wins to even the score, 3-3.

Several lead exchanges were then made and the next two matches were  split. This resulted in a final Partners 8-Ball match to decide who would be the victor.

In the end, it was Kabalen’s Pangilinan and Soriano who reigned supreme as they outlasted Oliver Gragasin and Formales to clinch the game-winning point, 7-6, and remain in overall first place with 23 wins.

Soudelor vs Rebels 2

Against the 9 Eleven Rebels 2, Bamboo Soudelor Construction also won by the barest of margins, 7-6.

Both teams were evenly matched. Chester Hamoy and Rolly Villanueva delivered most of Soudelor Construction’s wins while Phil Kalen and Arlon Buensalida  were the torch bearers for the Rebels 2.

As it came down to the wire, however, it was Hamoy and Villanueva who bested Kalen and Mervin Sahagun in the final Partners 8-Ball match to hand Soudelor Construction the win, 7-6.

Winners, too

Joining the winner’s circle were the VFW No Regrets who escaped defeat against the Last Shot Eleven Tiger, 7-6.

After the first two matches, No Regrets managed to break the deadlock in the one-on-one battle with Chris Camacho, Mei Rengiil and Joe Villagomez pulling a 3-1 run to grasp the lead, 6-4.

Eleven Tiger tried to even the score more but they failed to find a weakness in the No Regrets defense, and had to settle for defeat.

The last win of the night was claimed by the VFW IT&E Homeboyz who pummeled SCS Just Chillin’ 10-3.
