Tinian men’s basketball finals set for Dec. 29

THE 2021 Tinian Islandwide Men’s Bud Light Basketball League  championship game between Teams Kio and Rampage will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 29, at the Tinian gymnasium.

With the rise in the number of Covid-19 cases, the basketball league has to ensure that safety protocols will be implemented during the title game.

Tinian Amateur Basketball Association chairman Christopher SN King said these include verifying the vaccination cards and temperatures of those entering the gymnasium.

He said Covid-19 “really delayed the finals — I was kind of disappointed, but you know, safety comes first.”

Some game officials and referees were affected and an entire team, the Devil Dogs, had to pull out of the battle for third place. Their opponent, Team CNMI, won by default.

With the conclusion of the league drawing near, King said he may organize another tournament. “We’ll see,” he added.
