TOKAHAO bagged their 13th win by outplaying the Man Amigos, 17-9, Sunday in the 2022 Budweiser Belau Amateur Softball League at the Dandan baseball field.
The Man Amigos started strong with Eric Palacios and Manny Sablan contributing an RBI triple and RBI single respectively for a 2-0 lead in the opening inning.
But Tokahao’s Robert Bansil and Mark Villagomez responded with well-placed line drives to midfield to earn an RBI each. Tokahao then earned another run due to a Man Amigos error to take the lead, 3-2.
The Man Amigos notched a solo run scored off an error in the second inning and regained the lead in the top of the third thanks to Manny Sablan’s two-run homer.
But once again Tokahao countered with two runs of their own in the bottom of the third to even the score, 5-5.
The Man Amigos scored another run in the top of the fourth to regain the lead, but Tokahao took advantage of the Man Amigos’ costly error in the bottom of the fifth and slipped in six runs to take over, 11-6.
The Man Amigos attempted to stay alive with Jack Guerrero’s three-run homer in the sixth inning, but Tokahao retaliated with sixth runs, highlighted by Manny Villagomez and Jeff Cruz who had a homerun each as their team further extended their lead, 17-9.
The Man Amigos were unable to pull off a comeback and had to settle for the loss. Tokahao is now the number two team in the standings.
Sharing the spotlight was SUFA, the top team in the standings, which defeated Peleliu, 18-6.
Mel Sablan led SUFA to victory with four RBIs and two homeruns, hitting 3-3 at bat.
