Youth soccer games canceled due to new Covid-19 cases

DUE to the recent spike in Covid-19 cases in the community, the NMI Football  Association canceled the youth soccer games on Saturday, Oct. 30, 2021.

The NMIFA said its decision was in line with the Covid-19 Task Force and Gov. Ralph DLG Torres’ directive to protect the health and safety of the community.

“Kindly help share this information with your coaches, players, and parents. We will keep everyone informed and posted on any updates regarding this matter,” the NMIFA stated.

Among the games cancelled were those for 6-Under Grassroots, 8-Under and 10-Under Coed, 12-Under and the 15-Under Boys and 15-Under Girls leagues.

In response to the community-based transmission on Oct. 28,  the governor issued a memorandum early Friday morning  shutting down all public and private schools and colleges in the CNMI for the next 10 days.

“Protecting the health and safety of our people has been the main priority during this Covid-19 pandemic, and I will continue to do everything I can to keep our community safe against this virus,” he said.
