YUKO Togawa ruled the July tournament of the CNMI Women’s Golf Association on Saturday at LaoLao Bay Golf & Resort east course. It was her second consecutive monthly win.
The front nine is known to be the toughest half of the east course, but Togawa managed to deliver as she led the competition with the lowest gross score of 41. She then greatly improved her performance on the back nine with a score of 36 for a gross total of 77.
With a handicap of 5, her net score was 72.
Two other players shot 72 — EunAe Chang and Terry Guerrero — but Togawa had the best scores and was named the tournament winner.
EunAe Chang shot a gross of 45 on the front nine and a gross of 43 on the back nine for a total gross score of 88. With a handicap of 16, she ended with a net score of 72.
Terry Guerrero shot a gross of 45 on the front nine and closed the back nine with another gross of 45 for a combined gross total of 90. Her handicap of 18 gave her a net score of 72, but she had to settle for third place because Chang had a better back nine output. Chang finished second.
Fifteen golfers participated in Saturday’s tournament.
The CNMI Women’s Golf Association’s next monthly event will be held on Saturday, Aug. 6 at the Coral Ocean Resort golf course.
