Bliss soars as freely as the ocean breeze kissing DJ Zaiyra’s smiling cheeks while her pedals stroke smooth and steady…miles clicking by soaked in gorgeous hues of the waking sky. “I enjoyed the scenery while cycling and also enjoyed camaraderie in our cycling group,” shares the radio host. This – this is why she rides.

Marjorie “DJ Zaiyra” Ganacias joins fellow cyclists coach JP Camacho, riders Ren Gaviola and Kathy Ruszala in giving us the inside scoop on spinning their wheels in the name of power and joy.
Sweating to thrilling beats: Studio cycling
Coach JP Camacho
“I started coaching indoor cycling at Gold’s Gym Saipan because I was inspired by the unique and effective styles of former instructors, Ferleen and Gerald. Their influence motivated me to pursue certification and explore the intricacies of indoor cycling. But my passion for coaching comes from a desire to build something special,” shares JP Camacho.
Coach JP poses with his spinning class.
JP structures his indoor cycling program around nurturing a supportive team environment where members challenge limits while having fun. “What motivates people to stick with an indoor cycling regimen long-term is the dynamic and engaging experience. By incorporating themed rides, good music, varied routines, and skill-building techniques such as balancing yoga blocks on our heads, doing choreography, and using weights, I keep the sessions fun and fresh.”
You can currently find JP coaching classes on Tuesdays and Fridays at 5:15pm at Gold’s Gym Saipan. This Friday’s theme ride promises pumping beats from pop princess Ariana Grande!

Outdoor riding: Coasting under clear skies
Ren Gaviola
Fellow outdoor riders like Ren Gaviola started cycling inspired by family then came to appreciate the sport’s demand for both physical fitness and mental grit. “Its not all about physical strength, its also about how you think while pushing yourself and your body further,” Ren explains.
Kathy Ruszala agrees that cycling takes both physical and mental stamina. As a long-time outdoor cyclist, she shares, “My favorite ride is Beach Road from Chalan Kanoa to Susupe.” Kathy emphasizes the scenic joy and breezy escape riding outdoors provides.
The mental game of spinning and cycling
As Ren notes, while cycling builds powerful quads, cultivating mental toughness pushes true performance gains. “Any kind of sport is hard and tiring at first, but it gives health benefits, making you more fit and toned physically,” he shares. “But the mental aspect makes the difference sticking with it long-term.”
JP Camacho sees that psychology at play coaching new indoor cyclers. “Progress isn’t linear. You must believe you’re capable of more than you might think,” he advises. By celebrating small personal victories together and fostering communal motivation, JP invests members in the cycling journey so they stick with indoor training thanks to both physical and emotional payoffs.

DJ Zaiyra and Kathy Ruszala use their scenic outdoor rides as moving meditation too – the vista views and salt-kissed breezes providing stress relief as the miles click by. No doubt such zen mindsets let them chase gold-dappled horizons without end.
Wheels up! Pedal on with power and passion
Whether your temptation trends towards the communal thrill of a packed studio class or solo coastal escapes, two-wheeled workouts deliver both power and joy. Achievable adventures await exploring the open road or surging to a synchronized beat amongst friendly faces.
As JP Camacho says, spinning offers “a dynamic and engaging experience” where “people come for the rides but stay for what indoor cycling becomes.” So say yes to the thrill of it all however you choose to ride! Healthier bodies and minds await as we coast towards sun-soaked horizons together.
