OCTOBER is Domestic Violence Awareness Month or DVAM and Saipan Southern High School’s Mighty Manta Ray JROTC Battalion helped advocate by participating in the DVAM march.
The march took place at the NMI Museum from 5:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Oct. 21, 2021. The Manta Ray cadets formed up around 4:15 p.m. for registration and for the leaders to brief the battalion as to what to expect during the planned march.
As soon as it was 5:30 p.m., the march began. From the very beginning of the match, the Mighty Manta Ray Battalion led the way for the other JROTC battalions and event volunteers.
Starting from the NMI Museum, the outskirts of Chinatown near Sugar King Park, and back to the NMI Museum.
While marching, one of the coordinators of the DVAM march led a chant followed by the Manta Ray Battalion and the other battalions from other schools.
After the march, the cadets formed up and prayed silently during the candle-lighting event for those who were lost to abuse.
The Manta Ray cadets are glad that they were able to help raise awareness about domestic violence. Domestic Violence Awareness Month takes place in the month of October and by taking a stand and working together, we can prevent others from getting hurt and help end domestic abuse.
