IN response to the concerns raised by Sen. Paul A. Manglona regarding the CNMI’s travel bubble protocols with South Korea, Gov. Ralph DLG Torres said, “Don’t create chaos…. We’ve worked so hard. We are one of the safest places on earth, and there’s a system that we follow.”
The governor said the senator, “instead of writing letters should have called the task force, asked them to meet, and offered solutions. Writing letters like this and sending it out, may only create panic.”
Torres said his administration, the Governor’s Covid-19 Task Force, the Commonwealth Healthcare Corp., the Marianas Visitors Authority, private partners and other stakeholders continue to work hard to make the Commonwealth safe.
He said the senator’s concerns have already been addressed.
“In fact, before he mentioned any of those concerns, the task force had already looked into them,” Torres added.
“I’m confident that our system works, obviously, and the system will continue to work to ensure our community’s safety.”
The CNMI’s most senior lawmaker — he was first elected to the Senate in 1987 — Manglona is one of the two minority bloc members in the nine-seat Senate.
