BAMBOO Club 88 BlackBall notched another victory in the Thursday Division of the Saipan Billiards Association Budweiser Open 8-Ball League after defeating the Last Shot DECM Wizards 9-4 on Thursday at the New Bamboo Bar of Saipan Vegas.
BlackBall quickly set the tone as team members Jess Farinas, Randy David, Jesse Guerra and Rey Hermogenes displayed their individual skills in a four-win sweep of the opening Singles 8-Ball match.
The Wizards fought back as the pairs of Maria Boa and Lito Pangilinan along with Aljay Malang and Albert Pangilinan battled through both rounds of the Partners 8-Ball match to reduce the Blackball lead, 2-4.
After Albert Pangilinan snatched his team’s third consecutive win in the first round of the second Singles 8-Ball match, BlackBall quickly bounced back as David, Guerra and Hermogenes triumphed in the remaining three rounds to regain control, 7-3.
The Wizards’ Ed Mariano and Albert Pangilinan managed to snag one more win before BlackBall cruised to a 9-4 victory.
Last Shot/IT&E Homeboyz vs VFW Assassins
The Last Shot/IT&E Homeboyz are two points behind BlackBall in the team standings after their victory against the VFW Assassins, 8-5.
Several lead exchanges were made throughout the first three rounds with both teams tied at 5-5.
However, the Homeboyz suddenly found their second wind as they took over the last two matches of the game with the duo of Jeff Garcia and Brendon Talania along with Casar Sangalang and Rey Pinangay dominating the second Partners 8-Ball match while Nolan Cultura and Garcia paired up in the third and final Partners 8-Ball match to seal victory for the Homeboyz, 8-5.
Last Shot Eagles Eye vs Sands Team SCS
For their part, the Last Shot Eagles Eye — third in the team standings — defeated Sands Team SCS.
After back-and-forth battles in the first two matches, the Eagles Eye broke the ice in the second one-on-one matchup as Chester Hamoy, Eric Baugh, Nilo Panes and Rolly Villanueva could not be stopped, claiming all four rounds to grasp the lead for their team, 7-3.
Team SCS notched one more win, but it was still not enough to turn the tables as the Eagles Eye soared to victory, 9-4.
Bamboo MJD Tres Marias vs Last Shot Ball Shooters
Joining the winners circle were the Bamboo MJD Tres Marias who shot down the Last Ball Shooters 10-5.
Led by Jerry Soriano, Phil Kalen and Roel Barretto, the Tres Marias were unstoppable.
