500 Sails board vacancy announcement

(500 Sails) — The CNMI community is invited to submit letters of intent and résumés for a seat on the board of directors of 500 Sails.

500 Sails is a 501(c)(3) and CNMI tax-exempt organization dedicated to the revival, promotion, and preservation of maritime cultural traditions in the Marianas. The nonprofit organization strives to support and promote excellence in board service through ethical oversight of the organization’s programs, projects, and activities.

The board of directors is comprised of a nine-member diverse group of volunteers from the nonprofit, for-profit, and government sectors who are dedicated to the organization’s mission. The ideal candidate is ethical, creative, and is an advocate for the nonprofit’s mission, programs, and activities. Board responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Attendance in monthly board meetings;

• Promotion of awareness about the mission and its programs in the community;

• Active participation in working committee meetings;

• Attendance in programs and activities including fundraising events and activities;

• Recruitment, engagement, and collaboration with community partners for continual growth and improvement;

• Evaluation of the organization’s programs and activities; and

• Attendance at conferences, workshops, and other meetings on behalf of 500 Sails.
