THE Southern United Football Club continued their winning streak by thrashing Shirley’s Football Club 13-0 on Saturday at the NMI Soccer Training Center. It was SUFC’s fourth consecutive victory in the U15 Girls Division of the Summer 2021 Youth League.
SUFC were simply unmatched as they powered through the first half with nine goals, seven of which were made by Pia Ngewakl.
Her dribbling skills and ability to finish could not be stopped. Her onslaught started in the 5th minute which she continued by scoring four more goals at the 8th, 9th, 12th and 15th minute marks to put her team well ahead.
Her team-mates then started to chip in with Rosie Saralu adding two goals at the 16th and 24th minute marks while Megan Elayda’s solo shot and Ngewakl’s sixth goal extended SUFC’s lead 9-0.
The second half was no different with Shirley’s forced to play defense due to SUFC’s never-ending offense.
Although Shirley’s were able to prevent some goals, SUFC still scored four thanks to Elizabeth Babauta, Ngewakl, Saralu and Elayda to seal the win with ease 13-0.
Kanoa vs Paire
In their match, Kanoa Football Club outlasted Paire Football Club 5-2.
It was a fairly even match at first with Paire’s Tenaesha Diaz drawing first blood in the 15th minute and Kanoa’s Sophia Quintos tying the game, 1-1.
In the second half, however, Kanoa’s aggressiveness quickly overwhelmed Paire.
As soon as Kanoa had possession, they quickly pushed for the kill. Kaleen Leemarvin was open for the strike, and she delivered to give Kanoa the lead, 2-1.
Leemarvin’s goal acted as a sparkplug as her team continued to apply pressure on Paire which accidentally scored in their own goal, handing Kanoa a free point.
Two more goals were added by Kanoa’s Quintos to secure victory for her team, 5-2.
