WORKSITES will soon serve as Covid-19 vaccination sites, Commonwealth Healthcare Corp. chief executive officer Esther L. Muna said on Friday.
As for the Medical Care and Treatment Site, or MCATS, facility at CHCC, she said, “There are obviously other activities we could use it for” once it shuts down its Covid-19 vaccination operations.
“Right now, there are plans for it, but we have not really decided on which one we are going to be using it for, but there are definitely plans for it,” Muna added.
She said the vaccination site at the multi-purpose center in Susupe will become the main vaccination site.
“For those that have come to the MCATS, they have noticed that obviously parking is always a challenge here at CHCC,” she added. “More people are accessing care, which is great, so we want to take care of other health issues of the people here. This is the time to ramp it up, to see what we can do to expand more services and make more services available for our people,” Muna said.
“We would like to make the vaccines more accessible as well…. So we want to improve access, and that is why we are going to go to the workplace.”
Muna said businesses “can partner up [with us]. We want to bring it to them, rather than just having them come to the MCATS, going around trying to find parking and so forth. So, this is something that I think will be an advantage for people” who want get the vaccine.
CNMI Covid-19 Task Force Chairman Warren Villagomez, for his part, said, “Let us continue to make the effort to get vaccinated as we set up and strengthen the site at the multi-purpose center while we also reach out to the community, and businesses. We encourage the business community to contact us at CHCC and see what we can do and how we can coordinate…. Let us all work together to achieve that herd immunity of 80-85% vaccination rate.”
As of June 22, 26,066 individuals in the CNMI — or 61.5% of the entire CNMI population — had been fully vaccinated against Covid-19.
In addition, 28,285 have received their first dose of Covid-19 vaccine.
