THE Long Jump was one of the most exciting competitions during the Public School System All School Track & Field Qualifiers on Tuesday at the Oleai Sports Complex.
Aside from participating in the running events such as the 800M, 200M and 60M distance, students from Saipan International School, Agape Christian School, Isla Montessori School, Kagman Elementary School and Brilliant Star School competed in the Long Jump events in the U9 and U12 boys and girls divisions.
In the boys division, Kagman earned the top spot in the U9 age group thanks to Jayvon Dela Cruz.
After a few warm ups, Dela Cruz was ready and exuded confidence as he leaped off the takeoff point to cover 2.9 meters and finish first.
Taking second place was SIS’ Jude Rayphand who covered a distance of 2.7m, followed by schoolmate Carvar Gross at 2.69m.
In the U12 age group, Brilliant Star took the top spot with Aiden Camacho going the distance of 3.65m. Agape Christian School’s Danny Cheng gave Camacho a good scare but was a few centimeters short at 3.45m.
KagES entered the top three list with Tatum Jones covering 3.1m.
In the girls division, the U9 age group was dominated by SIS led by Beatrice Gross who covered a distance of 3.45m followed by Windsor Gross with 2.86m, and Leilani Ruszala with 2.75m.
In the U12 age group, KagES’ Paulani Dela Cruz was first with a distance of 3.42m, followed by schoolmate Page Blanco who covered 3.35m and SIS’ Faith Arriola who was third with 3.1m.
