SAIPAN Mayor Ramon “RB” Camacho will be evaluating the performances of employees working for the mayor’s office to determine those meant to stay and those who might need to go.
“We need to find out who are the ones working hard and who are those that don’t perform well,” he said in an interview.
The performance evaluation will happen in time with the government’s efforts to reduce unnecessary expenditures this year.
The Saipan Mayor’s office currently has 82 employees which include office staff and field workers.
Camacho said attendance is a crucial part of the evaluation process.
“We need to know who the diligent workers are and who are the ones always out, always late or those just relaxing and wasting taxpayer’s money,” he said.
He noted that government positions are meant for those who are serious in serving the community and not for those who cheat on their timesheet.
“We take attendance seriously and I want my team to understand that we are serious in serving the community,” he said.
Aside from evaluating employee performance, Camacho said he also started meeting with business owners to push for the Adopt a Place project.
He is also working on the planning of the neighborhood watch task force which he said will be another program under the mayor’s office.
“We are getting ready for the arrival of tourists in our island and our priority is to ensure that we have a clean and safe environment for both the locals and the tourists,” he said.
Camacho founded and the spearheaded the implementation of the Neighborhood Watch Task Force during his term as the Saipan Municipal councilor.
