Kingz win high school Rocball finals

Despite their loss, team Yo Face dominated the first set with a 16-6 win. With YJ Nakayama’s three-point goal, they pushed for a 10-3 lead before the Kingz squeezed out three more points.

The court favored the Kingz in the second set as Jason Limes took his team on a scoring spree with serves and kees. They jumped from one to six points in a matter of seconds. Team Yo Face recovered but struck their first serve into the net and were penalized a point.

The Kingz retaliated as Damien Itibus slammed down three two-point aces to give his team a 12-2 lead. Their foes scored afterward and received the serve.

Team Yo Face went on another scoring spree with a couple two-point backcourt kees and two volley points to close the gap from 2-12 to 8-12. When the Kingz received the serve, they were at game point with Limes rotating into the server’s position. He delivered the set-winning score with a two-point ace.

By the third set, team Yo Face was ahead 24-22. The game heated up as the Kings went all out with Jason Limes, Utalap Billy, Damart Teregeyo, and Itibus scoring two-point aces and two-point backcourt plays to retake the lead.

Neither team was penalized for bad serves. Slowly falling behind, team Yo Face constantly scored their one-point volley plays.

The Kingz were forced to score 22 points in a scheduled 15-point set before taking the match 22-16. Prior to this win, they also dominated in last Wednesday and Thursday’s games.

Limes was the game’s heavy hitter with four kees and one goal for 11 points. Both teams scored five two-point aces. The Kingz outscored team Yo Face 8-1 in two-point backcourt scoring and 3-1 in three-point goals. The next high school Rocball season will launch in February, 2011.
