Cruz tops SGA’s Ace of Aces tournament

John “Noni” Cruz topped all of his foes including last year’s champion, Vince Rosario, carding in a total net of 132.

Cruz netted 70 points during the first falling slightly behind Rosario, and then catching up to him on the second day after netting 62 points.

Following Cruz was Vince Rosario, Ace of January, with 132 points followed by Frances Sablan, Ace of November, carding in 139.

Cruz also bagged a Hole-In-One at Hole No.13 at the Lao Lao Bay West Course last April 11, 2010 and was given $500 last Saturday night at PIC’s Charley Cabaret where the Awards Banquet took place. He also pocketed the Lowest Net Award with a record score of 62.

Former Judge Edward Manibusan won the Lowest Gross (72 Gross), Most Birdies (18 Birdies), and Longest Drive awards (4L/D’s). Ray San Nicholas tied with Manibusan for this award.

The Most Greenies Award was given to PIC’s Food and Beverage Manager, Steve Balakrishna with a record score of 7 Greenies.

Most Consistent Player was bagged by Nick Sablan after shooting High 70’s while the Most Improved Player Award was taken home by Jose Sablan.

Three competitors were tied for winning the Most Winnings Award. Edward Sablan, Vince Rosario, and Jung Teack were awarded a bottle each of Hypnotic.

Edward Sablan, Jung Teack, Ray San Nicholas, and Joe Sablan were awarded as well after claiming the title of playing in all of SGA’s tournaments.

The Highest Gross was then bagged by the lone star female golfer, Frances M. Sablan with 117 Gross while the Highest Net was rewarded to Art Deleon Guerrero.

The Ace of Aces for 2010, John Cruz, was awarded the Perpetual Trophy. As previously written in the Marianas Variety yesterday, the 2009 Ace of Aces was Vince Rosario and the 2010 Ace of Aces was achieved by John “Noni” Cruz.

The Aces of the months for 2010 are: Vince Rosario (January), Edward Sablan (February), Mariano Fajardo (March), Larry Deleon Guerrero (April), Steve Jang (May), Jung Eun Teack (June), Jose Sablan (July), Martin Sablan (August), Steve Balakrishna (September), Ray San Nicholas (October), Frances M. Sablan (November), John “Noni” Cruz (December), and the Ace of Aces was John “Noni” Cruz.

Other Door Prizes and Raffle Prizes were up for grabs throughout the duration of the Awards Banquet for the SGA Members as well as the audience.
