Tinian Health Center to acquire new equipment, pursue renovation

Dela Cruz said this is necessary in order not to hamper the delivery of healthcare services despite the federalization of local immigration and the enactment of the Commonwealth Health Center privatization law.

“Their papers are now in the process and we are looking forward in completing this important process,” he told Variety, referring to the direct hiring of the personnel.

Currently, these nurses and medical ancillary staff are hired through the manpower agency Saipan Employment Agency and Services.

Dela Cruz said as provided by the fiscal year 2011 budget law, their nonresident nurses and the medical ancillary staff will be hired directly by THC.

The center, he added, will soon have new medical equipment and will continue the renovation and expansion of its facilities.

“In addition to the daily operations, my staff and I are working closely with the CIP office on Saipan on the bidding for the new medical equipment,” he said.

This includes a digital x-ray, a dental x-ray, laboratory and others as provided for by a federal grant.

“It has been a long process but we are now in the final stage,” Dela Cruz said.

To make room for the new medical equipment, he said they are now working on the expansion of the radiology, laboratory and dental clinic.

Through funding from the Tinian mayor’s office and legislative delegation, Dela Cruz said they will pursue a major renovation for the hospital rooms, the emergency room and bathroom.

“We are directing many efforts to make improvements,” he added.
