Event coordinator Don Castillo said five preliminary competitions followed by weekly semi-finals were held from Oct. 27 until Dec. 2.
Most of the contestants are employees of Tinian Dynasty Hotel & Casino and Tinian residents.
Two winners were chosen from each preliminary competition and another two winners for the weekly finals.
The finalists will be judged on the following criteria: voice quality, 40 percent; timing, 20 percent; audience impact, 15 percent; showmanship/stage presence, 15 percent; and costume, 10 percent.
Castillo said they decided to hold the competition to “expose” the talents of Tinian residents. Event coordinators are Shaun Christian, Alma Canlas, Don Castillo and Cherie Lagunay.
