UBA kickoff set for January

Six teams have shown their interest including the champions from last season’s game, team Prospects. Teams Ol Aces, Konflikt, Mobil, Hoopaholics, and the National team have entered the league as of Tuesday night’s UBA meeting at the Northern Marianas College gymnasium.

For all interested participants, there will be a $500 entrance fee. All players must be at least 18 years old and above. For age verification purposes, ALL players must provide a copy of their birth certificate/passport to verify their eligibility to play.

The league is setting the cap of teams at 10 teams maximum and 6 teams minimum with 12 players a team.

The deadline to submit the full roster and %05 of the entrance fee will be December 23, 2010.

$1000 in cash, a trophy, and a free entrance to the next season’s tournament is up for grabs for the worthy champions of the competition. The finals regular season’s most valuable player will also receive a trophy, cell phone, and much more.

All games will be indoors at the Gilbert C. Ada gymnasium. Tentative schedule will be two games a night with the first game starting at 6 pm and the second starting at 8 pm on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.

The UBA organization will now keep a record of statistics for assists, rebounds, points of individual players, etc.

The UBA league will play in accordance with the FIBA International Basketball Rules. ALL players and coaches must sign and submit the waiver forms prior to the start of the league.

Teams must have a minimum of five (5) players and the presence of their coach or assistant coach to start the game. A 15 minute grace period after the 10 minute warm up time will be honored if a team is incomplete.

If a team does not follow this rule or is lacking an essential part to start the game, the table officials will deem it a forfeit game.

Complete uniforms or identical color tops with visible number is a must during each game. Players without uniform during the game will NOT be allowed to play.

The league will follow the Round robin format where all teams play each other once. A single elimination playoff between the top eight teams will be followed.
