Muna sentenced to 1-day jail term for theft

Superior Court Associate Judge Perry B. Inos sentenced the 41-year-old Muna to one year imprisonment, all suspended, with credit for the one day he already served at the Department of Corrections.

Under the plea agreement, Muna will pay $540 as restitution to his victim, Seung H. Hwang; a $500 fine; a $100 court assessment fee; and a probation fee to be determined by the Adult Probation Office.

Muna will also complete 50 hours of community work service.

Inos directed Muna not to have any contact with Seung H. Hwang, and to stay away from the victim’s business establishment, En Cool Phone Shop, in San Antonio.

Julian Muna Sablan, 22, was Muna’s co-defendant.

Police said Muna and Sablan stole seven bottles of perfume, and one black Sting Ray purse on Nov. 9, 2009 from Hwang’s shop.

Assistant Attorney General Eli Golob prosecuted the case while Muna was represented by attorney Joseph Horey.

No new information regarding the status of Sablan’s case was available as of yesterday.
