The Saipan Swim Club would like to invite all the public schools to participate in this event as a way to promote swimming on Saipan.
“Sports are an excellent way for people to assist the schools in teaching discipline and focus as well as a healthy lifestyle. Swimming is a great life skill for anyone to learn and even more important for our children since thye are surrounded by water” said Lisa Kimball in a letter to the commissioner of education Dr. Rita Sablan.
The Saipan Swim Club has for over 30 years, promoted swimming on the island and has given children opportunities to learn to swim and to experience the world through international competitions. “It all starts at the local level and at competitions like this.” Kimball added.
The Saipan Swim club will open the one-day tournament to private and public schools.
There will be a competition in the elementary division, junior high division, and high school division.
All Participants are required to be able to swim at least 50 meters as a prerequisite to join because the events will start from 50 meters to 400 meters and will cover all four strokes of swimming which are the free style, backstroke, breaststroke, and the butterfly.
In the elementary division, there will be two groups; male and female 9 years old and under, and the 10 years old and above category.
The high school category will also have two competitions for males and females.
The junior high school will be allowed to have their sixth graders swim in either elementary or junior high, but the entire grade must be in the same category.
A strict rule of each swimmer can only join two individual events and one relay will be imposed on the day of competition.
Only the Top 2 swimmers per school will be awarded points in the individual events and the top team per school for a relay.
Ribbons will be awarded to the top finishers in each event while trophies will be awarded to the champion schools in the various divisions.
Interested and already participating schools should assign one coach and two adults as timers.
In the past years Whispering Palms, Saipan International School, and Saipan Community School dominated the All Schools tournament.
