This was disclosed by Peoria Koshiba, athletics development officer at PNOC, in a recent interview.
Koshiba said the event will be held in the absence of the Palau National Athletics Championship.
“No national championship was held this year, so this event will take place in lieu of that annual sporting competition,” she pointed out.
The sports officer added that the event will also be for the enjoyment of everyone and an opportunity to find promising track and field players.
She said the event is open to anyone who is interested.
“We are expecting more than a hundred individuals to register and join the competition,” Koshiba declared.
According to her, participants of the event will be competing in different track and field events during the two-day competition.
The track events for the tournament are: 100 m (men/women), 1, 500 (men/women), 400 m (men/women), 200 m (men/women), 5 km road run (men/women), 800 m (men/women), 100 m hurdles (men/women), 4×200 m relay (men/women), 4×100 m relay (men/women), 4×400 m relay (men/women), 800 m medley run (2 men & 2 women), 1600 mixed medley relay (2 men & 2 women) and 1600 m mixed medley (2 men & 2 women).
