The Kingz dominated team Magic 17-10 in the first set and 15-10 in the second.
In Rocball however, the rules state that a team cannot win a game in a losing set. The lunch-time high school games are three sets of 15 points per set. Teams must have the serve to win, and can only “juice-out” win a game if a team’s total points are higher than those of their opponents. A team must also win the final set of a regular game.
Although the three-set game ended with 44-36 between the Kingz and Magics, the Magics won the last set and forced the game into overtime. The Kingz only had to win one five-point set in overtime. Team Magic would have had to win two overtime sets.
The Kingz won in the first overtime 7-2. With that win, the Kingz knocked the Magics out of sole possession of first place. The Kingz and Magics are now tied for first place at two wins and one loss each.
In game two, team Yo Face won the first round and moved into second place with the Hit Its at one win and two losses each. Team Yo Face lost the first set 16-6 but came back in set two, winning 16-14. They blew their foes out in the third set 15-1 to “juice-out” the Hit Its with 37-31.
Three xunks, one jam, 10 kees, one goal, and nine aces were scored between the Kingz and Magics. The game’s heavy hitter was Kingz’ Ryan Ichihara with two aces and three kees for 10 points.
In the game between team Yo Face and Hit It, six aces, one xunk, six kees, and two goals were scored. Larry Singa, Sylvester Kapileo, and Wilton Laniyo each scored two two-point plays to lead their team to victory.
