Saipan council recognizes employers who support servicemembers

Yesterday, Camacho, on behalf of the municipal council,  presented a commemorative resolution to the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve.

Gov. Benigno R. Fitial designated Sept. 12 to 18 as Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve Week in the CNMI.

Camacho said the resolution  recognizes the many employers for their support of “our men and women in the United States National Guard and Reserve Battalion who are deployed overseas in the war on terrorism.”

According to the resolution, “as partners in the fight against global terrorism on Amerian citizens, local ESGRs have displayed loyalty, duty and honor to country in their magnanimous support of our troops and the state of readiness of our men and women when called to duty in defense of the Motherland, the United States of America.”

ESGR chairman for the CNMI Mariano Fajardo received a copy of the resolution and was joined by ESGR volunteer and military outreach coordinator, former Rep. Ed Salas.

Fajardo thanked the municipal council for acknowledging the contributions of servicemembers.

“They gave us the liberty what we want in our democratic system,” he said.

Fajardo urged other employers to continue supporting their employees who are in military service.

“The shackle of uncertainty that hang around the necks of our men and women in uniform as they serve their country at any moment in time for months and years at a time is lessened by leaps and bounds by the comfort of job security for these men and women in the armed forces upon their return home from combat,” the council resolution stated.
