Cross country series continues

Registration time starts at 3 p.m. and race time is 4 p.m. Participants may enter in five age categories, which include U8, U10, U12, U14, and U18.

The cross country’s course will stretch from 1,500 to 5000 meters depending on the age group. Participants will earn points according to their rank. A first place finisher will receive one point while second and third place finishers will earn two and three points, respectively.

Team scores will be determined by the total amount of points from the first five finishers of each team. The group or individual that scores the least will be declared the winner. Ties in team scoring will be resolved by comparing sixth place finishers from each team.

Middle and high school participants from the Marianas Intramural Sports Organization must have a current physical examination and a minimum grade point average of 2.25.

Medals are awarded to the top three finishers in each category and trophies are given to top three finishing teams.

This will be the second out of three cross country events, with the championship scheduled for Nov. 13. The venue for the championship has not been determined yet by NMA officials.

Marianas High School’s Danny Bai topped the U18 category in the first event two weeks ago, completing the course with a time of 13 minutes and 45.52 seconds. John Gozon came in second at 15:15.36, while Andrian Reyes placed third at 15:52.34.

The third cross country race is scheduled for Oct. 30.
