So far as the last event that coordinator Brad Ruszala will be organizing, the event is undergoing deep preparation.
The course set for the ‘Ride Round the Ridge’ race will start at the old Saipan Radar station, and will take the mountain bikers rocketing down to the Laderran-Tanke trail, pass Sirena, Kalabera cave, and emerge out at the Bird Island lookout.
From there, the bikers will pedal on the pavement until the trail takes them to a left turn which will allow the competitors to travel up and through the Kimikaze trail; finally linking the course up with the coral road behind the Marianas Country Club.
When they reach the million-gallon tank, the bikers will turn left and pedal up to the Radar Station back to home base.
The recreational riders will complete their race there with one lap but the hardcore racers will go for a second lap for all of the top prizes!
There will be t-shirts, cash prizes, and prizes on tap and a whole lot of goodies from sponsors.
“This is my final event of 2010 [that I will organize], but we’ll get going again in 2011.” Race organizer Brad Ruszala told the Variety via email.
