He said the issue has gotten personal thus he established a task force on Friday to advise the president regarding security screening at the Palau International Airport.
He said the established task force is not intended to undermine Ngiraingas “ but to help him and me deal with the issues.”
Executive Order 286 appointed Vice President Kerai Mariur as member of the task force.
Joining Mariur are Chief of Staff Isaac Soaladaob, Shallum Etpison, Attorney General Ernestine Rengiil and Jose Ise, Acting Administrator of the Palau National Aviation Administration.
The task force is given until Dec. 31 to come up with a report.
Nakamura is the president of the Belau Airport Security Company (Basco) which currently handles the airport screening.
The government through Ngiraingas said that it is serious in taking over and initiating the transition phase of transferring the passenger and baggage security screening services to the security division of the Bureau of Aviation.
Ngiraingas said Palau is taking a proactive measure in securing its airport facility.
The minister has notified Nakamura of the planned takeover by Nakamura is resisting it.
The president stated that the personal differences between the two have gotten out of hand.
He said he wants to resolve the matter “free of unnecessary emotions.”
The president said the final decision will be made by him and the recommendation of the task force.
Ngiraingas was recently ordered by the Supreme Court to pay damages to Nakamura after the latter sued him for defamation.
