Travis August, KSSWM Recycling Center Manager, said the selling of compost materials is exclusively for the people of Koror as it is the Koror State Government (KSG) that facilitated this project.
The compost sales are limited. An amount of $50.00 purchase will be the limit per person per week or five working days. If one buys $50.00 worth of compost on a single purchase, he will not be allowed to purchase any more until after five working days.
August said the compost were obtained from used boxes, shredded paper, leaves, egg shells and other recycles kitchen and yard waste.
He added that it took them more than two years to pile up the compost products before they can start to sell this organic fertilizer to the public.
The compost sale is part of the recycling program being implemented by the KSSWM to reduce the garbage volume being dumped at the landfill.
The money raised in this program will go to the KSG fund.
The KSSWM office is open from 8:00 to 11:00 in the morning and 1:00 to 3:30 in the afternoon. To purchase compost, bring your own compost container. Pay at the KSG Treasury Department at KSG Capital building; and bring receipt to the office of KSSWM at M-dock to receive your compost.
