Ferrera conquers Buraot, 79-78

With eight seconds left in the final quarter, the pressure was all on Buraot’s Dave Sablan after being fouled by a Ferrera defender. Sablan needed at least one of his two free throws to bring the game into overtime. Following both missed shots, the Buraots tried to make a final jumper but failed. The game was over when Ferrera’s Wowie Abuel took control of the ball.

Earlier in the quarter, the Buraots remained one point behind after a lay up from Gil Gapor. Buraot’s Tiger Lee caught a rebound but lost the ball again to Ferrera’s Gil Miranda.

Despite losing the match, the Buraots offered a strong offensive with Dave Sablan and Gapor, who earned a combined total of 40 points. They lost momentum in the fourth quarter when Ferrera controlled the rebounds with Miranda and Rex Yabut.

Despite losing Yabut with his five personal fouls, Kae Bernardo and Miranda continued hammering two-pointers in the second half. With better ball control in the game, the Ferreras were able to keep the Buraots behind.

Miranda ranked first in the individual scores, piling 22 points for the game.
