Flores seeks exemption for 6 personnel

Flores said his office is mandated by law to provide “essential continuing services” to the community.

“These services must not stop,” he said.

Even before the passage of the budget bill, he already informed the governor about his request.

As of press time yesterday Flores said he had yet to receive the governor’s approval.

In the meantime, he said his office will observe the austerity measures.

“We have to schedule our staff to honor the austerity,” he added.

He assured that the delivery of community services provided by his office will not be hampered.

Budget

In the fiscal year 2011 budget, the office of the mayor’s full time employee ceiling was increased to 16  positions with a funding level of $377,284.

“The budget could be better. It’s not anybody’s fault. It’s just that we have a problem in revenue due to our economic situation. We must try to manage what we have and not expend beyond our limit,” Flores said.

He said his office will be prioritizing programs to maximize their limited personnel and budget.
