In an email interview with Mr. James Nelson yesterday, he told the Variety that the golf tournament will kick off as scheduled.
Nelson stated that part of being a good corporate citizen is to be involved in the local community in a positive way.
This golf tournament is only one of the many community activities that Docomo Pacific has been involved in this year and it is the company’s desire to continue building a strong relationship with the CNMI community in the years to come.
The beneficiary of the tournament is the Marianas Tourism Education Council (MTEC). It is important that businesses, both large and small, support MTEC in its mission of strengthening awareness and the importance of our tourism industry to the students of the public school system.
The tournament is open to golfers of all ages, but each golfer must have an established handicap. The tournament will be held this Saturday, September 4th with tee time scheduled at 7:00 am at the Lao Lao Bay Golf Resort WEST Course.
The entry fee is $95.00. This will include cart and green fees, on-course refreshments and the awards banquet.
Entry forms are available at all golf courses, as well as the Docomo Pacific Gualo Rai office and the MITA Travel location in Garapan. Submission of entry forms and payments are accepted at the Lao Lao Bay Golf Resort and at both Docomo Pacific locations.
The deadline for registration is tomorrow, September 2nd so interested golfers are encouraged to sign-up as soon as possible.
The ground rules for the Golf tournament will be based on the rules conducted by the United States Golf Association and local golf rules will be utilized as well.
The tournament will be using a modified Callaway score sheet. There will be an organized Championship Flight, Flights A, B, C, ladies, and seniors.
Winners will win nice phones. There will also be two great Hole-in-One prizes; a 2010 Ford Ranger Pick-up donated by Joeten Motors and $25,000.00 donated by the Bank of Hawaii.
