Angelray donates toys, books to Autism Society

With his parents, Joseph and Vicky, Angelray delivered the donations to the Northern Marianas Protection & Advocacy Systems Inc. office in Gualo Rai.

This time, the books, toys and other school supplies were from the U.S. Library of Congress and were given to him through the efforts of Congressman Gregorio C. Sablan.

Angelray, who will turn 16 on Oct. 21, has been donating toys, books and other supplies to children in the CNMI since his return from Hawaii where he spent a year and a half in a hospital due to a malignant brain tumor.

Angelray expressed hope that he would continue to bring in more donations to the children of the commonwealth, especially those with disabilities.

“I hope there will be more to come so can I continue to donate,” he added.

Autism Society vice president Romeo X. Cuellar and member John Guerrero thanked Angelray for his generosity and welcomed him to be part of their group.

Vince Merfalen, the husband of society president Barbra, said it was the first time the group received donations in kind. He thanked Angelray for his compassion.

Angelray said it feels good to give something to those who are in need.

He said through these donations, “I also feel better and better every day.”

He urged people to deal with children with autism like other kids.

“They may be  different,” he added, “but all people are different.”
