School principal Yvonne R, Pangelinan, one of the advisors of the council, discussed with the students the quality of a good leader.
She encouraged the student leaders to start thinking about good ideas and sharing them with their teachers.
A good leader, she said, should be a good model and should show good behavior and make good friends.
This year’s Student Council officers are Mia Sablan, president; Valentin Cabrera, vice president; Raymart Apritado, secretary; and Erika Cunanan, treasurer.
Except for Cunanan, a fourth grader, all the other officers are in sixth grade.
In an interview, Mia Sablan said she ran for president because “I think I have the capability to handle the job.”
Cabrera said he will propose programs that will improve the well-being of the students.
He said he will also think of a program that will allow students to make new friends.
For Apritado, a good living environment on campus is one of his priorities.
“I want to see more picnic tables,” Cunanan said.
The council’s other advisors are vice principal Paulette Sablan, counselor Leila Yumul and counselor Derwin Johnson.
The grade level advisors are fourth grade teacher Jennifer Backhaus, fifth grade teacher Megan Statkus and sixth grade teacher Asap Ogumoro.
