During last Friday’s “Dialogue on CDA Matters” at the American Memorial Park Visitor Center, CDA Executive Director Manuel A. Sablan said they are willing to sit down and discuss what can be done for their clients to avoid foreclosures.
“We are not willing or interested to foreclose businesses that fail to pay their loans. In fact, foreclosure is our very last resort when all the other means have failed. So we encourage business owners to come to us and let us see what else can we do for you,” Sablan said.
As CDA does not micromanage businesses, Sablan said the Small Business Development Center will be the one to provide direct assistance to small businesses.
“Putting up a business plan takes expertise, and this is where SBDC can come in to help,” he said.
In a business, he added, money is not the only problem but proper management as well.
During the dialogue, several business owners testified on how they have benefited from CDA’s debt relief and other programs.
Residents from Rota and Tinian participated in the dialogue via teleconference.
CDA loan manager Oscar Camacho is inviting members of the community to drop by the CDA office in Gualo Rai on Middle Road for the week-long open house starting today until Friday.
A raffle draw will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday and 10 individuals can win prizes that will be credited toward their accrued loan interests. Two laptops will also be given away.
To qualify for the raffle draw, an individual must have attended the dialogue last Friday and must visit the CDA open house anytime this week.
Camacho said guests can get more information about CDA’s various programs while borrowers can have one-on-one consultations with CDA staffers.
