He said he was informed by the military prosecutor handling the case that the trial will begin either in October or November.
The date of the trial will depend on the completion of a full investigation report, he said.
David Santos said he will be traveling to the U.S. to attend the trial.
“I am still seeking for justice,” he said.
Based on preliminary information relayed to the family, they learned that Corporal Santos, 21, was stabbed by a fellow Marine on the left side of his neck which caused his sudden death.
The incident happened last July 16 in Helmand province, Afghanistan.
Cpl. William Dalton is the defendant.
David Santos admitted that he and his family are still grieving the loss of his son. “I am still suffering. I think there’s no word that can cure and appease my pain.”
He said they are anxious to know what exactly transpired which led to the death of his son.
“Our family,” he added “are thankful to the general public for their continuous moral support and prayers for justice.”
Aside from his son’s benefits, he said, they haven’t received any assistance from the U.S. government, especially from the military.
Corporal Santos was assigned to 2nd Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division based at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.
