Man pleads not guilty to theft by deception charge

Franz Benjamin Reksid was represented by attorney Stephen Woodruff during the arraignment in the courtroom of Superior Court Presiding Judge Robert Naraja.

Assistant Attorney General George Hasselback represented the government.

Reksid was arrested on Sept. 29.

Police learned that Reksid obtained $5,000 from a man on April 29 upon the false pretext that Reksid needed to borrow money because of a family emergency.

Reksid promised to return the borrowed money on May 8.

On Aug. 18 and 19, Reksid obtained $8,000 from another man who believed that the defendant needed money due to a family emergency and would repay him two weeks after.
