Lt. Peter Napoleon identified the man as Loreen Reksid Ngirmekur. He was arrested for DUI and attempted assault and battery with a dangerous weapon on October 17.
Napoleon said Ngirmekur pulled out a knife and attempted to assault the officer who went after him when he fled on foot.
The suspect was pulled over at dawn on Saturday for driving his car on a high speed at the main highway.
Ngirmekur came from the Palau Community College parking lot and was heading towards the downtown when spotted by police.
He was tested for Field Sobriety Test on the scene and he failed the test.
He was brought to the police station for booking and confinement but Ngirmekur fled on foot and run towards the Post Office.
The officer chased him and when he was cornered, the suspect took a knife and tried to assault the officer.
