Guests included Palau President Johnson Toribiong and other high officials from the FSM national and state governments, Guam, the Northern Marianas, the U.S, Japan and Britain.
The dance was performed following the awards for winners in all the canoe events that took place during the festival.
The award ceremony followed the demonstration for turning up the same capsized voyaging canoe left in the water after the canoe capsizing demonstration on Saturday.
Yap Gov. Sebastian Anefal noted that the “importance of these traditional canoes to what is now known as Yapese society is awesome. Without these traditional canoes, there may not have been any Yapese society at all.”
Guam Sen. Ben Pangelinan thanked the leadership and the people of Yap for perpetuating their heritage and traditions.
