eighth playoff slot in the IT&E Inter-government & Business Basketball League at the Gilbert C. Ada Gym last night.
Ponce Rasa Jr., and Romeo Iginoef controlled the offense to put up a strong lead in the first quarter. Rasa scored 12 of his 18 points in this period while Iginoef fired eight markers to finish with 18 points as well.
DCCA ended the first quarter with a 12-point lead but CHC brought it down to manageable level in the second half, with Richard Brostrom pouring in 21 of his total points.
The short-handed CHC however slowly lose grip of the defense in the third half. Edgar Pangelinan was still enduring the pain of his minor injury he sustained during last Wednesday’s game against Customs.
Ben Lisua who had a great play that day, failed to show up last night due to his injury that according to his team mates, went bad.
CHC had Sam Fernandez who controlled the offense and contributed a lot in an attempt to close in.
With Fernandez and Brostrom making the best use of the turn overs due to DCCA’s passing errors, CHC managed to cut the lead down to two points in the fourth quarter.
This prompted Rasa to charge the hoops with better precision and Van Buren tested himself right from behind the arc to pull away DCCA again.
Connie Camacho and Beverly Igitol took their turn halfway to the ball game. Camacho sizzled with 17 points and Igitol fired five of her 13 points.
