Wiseman hears N. Islands election protest

Yesterday, Associate Judge David Wiseman heard testimony  from the Commonwealth Election Commission and the four individuals whose votes were challenged.

Wiseman disqualified two voters and was expected to rule on two others.

The eligibility of 21 voters was challenged by Covenant mayoral candidate Ramona T. Rebuenog, who said these individuals are not residents of the Northern Islands.

Rebuenog is represented by attorney Richard W. Pierce.

Independent candidate Tobias DLC. Aldan, who garnered 69 votes or one more than Rebuenog, is represented by attorney Robert T. Torres.

Torres argued that the complaining party has to prove that a person is a qualified voter or candidate in the district.

He said they did not have time to prepare since Rebuenog, in her original complaint, did not identify the 21 challenged voters.

Torres noted that his client won the election fairly.
